Skåne University Hospital, Sweden
The storage of medical materials was not efficiently organized at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö. As a result, nurses often lost important time retrieving materials. That was the main reason that the hospital was looking for an efficient storage system.
Efficiency
The surgical department at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö is equipped with two new Compactus® Original XT mobile storage system. The mobile storage system is for emergency surgeries during evenings and weekends.
Moving storage
In the last storage room, they had a system for both anesthesia and tools/accessories, which meant that they sometimes had to wait for each other to pick all the material needed for the surgery, and sometimes the medical staff is in a hurry. To ensure efficient work, it was decided to move the storage of the anesthesia department to the other side of the middle aisle to work more efficiently. In the blue system the anesthesia department stores all their accessories. The purple/pink storage begins with a fixed section, where they always have quick access to blood products and sutures. In other shelves, instruments, screws, plates, pins and prostheses are stored. Both systems are equipped with a hand crank.
Special solutions
Some special solutions were also delivered. One which is called the “wine rack” where the customer can store longer products as desired. And an automatic door opener was placed on one of the front panels.
